THE Bendigo Thunder put the finishing touch to a perfect Victorian Women’s Football League premier division home and away season on Sunday with a 27-point win over the Port Melbourne Colts.
The Thunder were never troubled at Dower Park as they won 7.7 (49) to 3.4 (22) to end the home and away season with an unblemished 15-0 record.
Bendigo held the Colts to just one behind in the first half, by which stage the Thunder were already 35 points up.
Hayley Trevean (two goals), Jess Kennedy, Leah French and Jacinta Louttit were the best for the Thunder, while Erin Ross kicked three goals.
“To go through the home and away season undefeated has been a fantastic effort by the girls,” Thunder coach Cherie O’Neill said.
“They have always just taken it week by week and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls with the way they have conducted themselves on and off the field.”
The Thunder will now focus their attention on the second semi-final to be played at the QEO from 2pm thisSunday against Melbourne Uni.
